ROO ADVENTURES 2007 Ah...and here we are.
CAMP DRIVEWAY - March I just had to get out camping. It got down to 25 degrees that night! BRRRRRRRRRRRR!
OLD MILL STREAM 03/07
Last week of March and it was off to Old Mill Stream in Lancaster to finally meet twenty-something RVers from RV.Net. It was real nice to finally put faces, names and RVs together. There were some ups and downs and the Shady Maple Buffet was a wild time.
EAGLES PEAK 04/07 Easter Break
Mid-April
An interesting thing happened. We were at Eagle's Peak Easter week with marginal weather. A Nor'easter was already coming in with high winds, sleet, rain and flooding. After making it through Saturday night we headed out soon after daylight. The place was pretty empty. After the fact I realized no pics of us had been taken all weekend. Oh well. The next sojourn two weeks later was better weather but still marginal. It was quiet and not a lot of campers. And, we got our usual Bachman Men pic as well. Life is good.
GBIV/DRUMMER BOY 05/07
Good friends and good times. 58 campsites and over 150 folks from RV.Net getting together.
GIFFORD PINCHOT SP -Father's Day 2007
The most perfect camping weather weekend to date. Was in the 90s just like 2006. Just Alex and I but our wine tasting/grilling/camping buddies and former neighbors were right next door! Yes, I love my palm tree!
SPRING GULCH CG - July 4th Week
Just Alex and I again. Scott was in firefighter training.
Not a bad week. It rained a lot but our neighbors and the sites were awesome. Two trips to the Shady Maple Buffet were great.
CHERRYSTONE (again!) Nine days at our fav VA outpost. Some new paint schemes and our 'personal' pier was being replaced but it was a great time. I rarely saw the boys. Well, when they whizzed by on bikes or in Scott's car I did catch a glimpse of them. And there were those times when they needed quarters for the arcade and food/drink. I had to check photos in the morning when I looked at them asleep to make sure the 'strangers' were in the right ROO!
And yes, I do love my ROO and my palm tree! Have I mentioned that before? :)
ELK NECK SP (MD) - AUGUST RV.NET PRE-HTT RALLY
This was a prequel to our first Annual Mid-Atlantic HTT Rally. Only six sites this weekend but seventeen in September. Oh what fun!
EAGLES PEAK - LABOR DAY WEEKEND
The weather was perhaps the best for a camping weekend I have experienced in some time. 70s/80s during the days and a low of 52 degree one night. The boys were gone from dawn to dusk, literally. A good time was had by all. Our site is a fav. Private and spacious.
SAMPSON STATE PARK/LAKE SENECA, NY - September This was a RV.Net first Annual NY HTT Rally. A fantastic location, albeit a long drive for an extended weekend. Initially we had 13 folks signed up but only 8 finally made it. A great time was had by all.
This was the RV.Net first Annual NY HTT Rally. A fantastic location, albeit a long drive for an extended weekend. Initially we had 13 folks signed up but only 8 finally made it. Two of us were from MD, two were from Canada and the remainder were from NY. A great time was had by all.
ELK NECK STATE PARK - September
This was the RV.Net first Annual Elk Neck State Park HTT Rally. A fantastic event with many new and old camping faces, lots of prizes, good adult beverages and food, food, food! The weather was superb and perhaps the best one could ever hope for while camping. Yes, those silly glo rings made it to the event yet again! GIFFORD PINCHOT SP - OCTOBER Well, sad to say but my last trip of 2007 was Gifford Pinchot the 3rd weekend of October. My sons were MIA. If the pics look familiar I was on the same site the last three trips. The drought was quite noticeable as the lake was easily 50 feet further out than normal from the shore. My buddy Nelson came out since his wife was in Denver. They of course are my wine tasting/grilling buddies from previous trips. The weather ran the gamut from hot and humid to rainy to overnight temps of 42 degrees. But it was a great weekend. I have run out of time and options for any more camping this year. Getting a site in the few CGs which are open in early November is impossible at this point due to the recent fantastic weather.
Well, 2007 camping is done, finis, kaput, closed, ended, finis. I did not get out in November although I tried. I am slowly winterizing the ROO just hoping to kill enough time that March will be right around the corner. I am planning on getting out ASAP! I only picked up NY on my map in 2007. However, I would like to pick up 5 or 6 more States in 2008 and maybe some Canadian Provinces as well with or without my sons!
Check out the flashCube for your RV. I recommend it!
